1. INTRODUCTION & PURPOSE

The AVL MASTER HANDBOOK 2026 exists to ensure every volunteer and tech team member can confidently operate the Abundant Life AVL ecosystem with clarity, safety, and excellence. This handbook provides unified workflows for:

  • Audio (FOH + Studio)
  • Video (OBS, camera feeds, NDI)
  • Lighting
  • Playback systems
  • Dante network communications

This handbook will be updated as additional videos and diagrams are completed.

2. AVL ECOSYSTEM OVERVIEW

ALC runs a fully networked Dante + Avantis system using:

  • Avantis FOH console
  • ME-1 personal monitor mixers
  • ProTools Studio Broadcast Mix
  • Ableton playback (Dante)
  • OBS + Subsplash Live
  • Network switch for NDI, Dante, FOH/Studio sync

Every system communicates through Dante, requiring correct routing and a running Dante Virtual Soundcard.

3. POWER-UP / ECO STARTUP SEQUENCE

  1. Turn on Platform Power (lighting bars, speakers, stage rack)
  2. Turn on back AV Room main power bar
  3. Turn on FOH rack & Avantis
  4. Turn on Studio system (Mac Mini, RedNet, screens)
  5. Turn on Playback systems:
    • Ableton
    • ProPresenter
    • OBS / cameras
  6. Verify Dante Virtual Soundcard
  7. Check Dante Controller (all GREEN)

4. FRONT OF HOUSE (FOH) - AVANTIS CONSOLE

Scene Recall:

  • Advantis FOH Scene → House mix
  • Broadcast/ProTools Scene → Studio broadcast mix

MIX button controls active mixing layer:

  • LR (Main)
  • Video Mix
  • Aux / Groups

Gain, Trim, and Direct Out determine routing to FOH, Studio, and ME-1.

5. I/O, SIGNAL FLOW & TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. Check I/O page (is the channel assigned?)
  2. Check gain (meter movement?)
  3. Check routing (LR, subgroup, video mix?)

If I/O is unassigned → No signal anywhere.

6. GAIN STRUCTURE (GAIN / TRIM / DIRECT OUT)

  • GAIN = physical preamp
  • TRIM = virtual gain control
  • DIRECT OUT = signal sent to Studio/ME-1

7. BROADCAST & STUDIO OPERATIONS (PART 1)

Studio receives every stem through Dante.

Tools:

  • ProTools
  • Dante Virtual Soundcard
  • Dante Controller

Monitoring output = Dante 61 & 62.

8. ME-1 PERSONAL MONITOR SYSTEM

  1. Piano
  2. Aux Keys
  3. Bass
  4. Guitar 1
  5. Guitar 2
  6. Drums
  7. Tracks
  8. Clicks & Guides

Shift + Group → MENU for reassignment.

9. ABLETON / DANTE STAGE OPERATIONS

Output Configuration:

  • 1-2: Clicks & Guides
  • 3-4: Percussion
  • 5-6: Keys
  • 7-8: Guitars
  • 9-10: BGVs

Incorrect routing = no Dante output.

10. LIVE STREAM SETUP (SUBSPLASH + OBS)

Subsplash Steps:

  • Create Livestream
  • Title: SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE
  • Schedule service
  • Enable syndication
  • Insert website link
  • Apply graphics

OBS:
Red = LIVE, Green = PREVIEW

NDI Fix:
System Settings → Network → Ethernet → Make Active

11. STUDIO/FOH/PLAYBACK WORKFLOW

FOH fader for Studio must stay DOWN.

Studio mixes livestream independently.

12. FULL AVL ECO SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE

  1. FOH - Utility → Power Down → Confirm
  2. Projection/Lighting - Blackout, quit apps, lock screen
  3. Cameras - Plug in to charge
  4. Back AV Room - Shut down platform power & AV master switch
  5. Studio - Save ProTools, reset mix, quit apps, lock/shut down
